Calliope's Song

Calliope's Song

A Poem by DannyLynne Riley
"

Calliope or Kalliope was one of the greek muses she was the muse of the epics also known as the muse of epic poetry and also the Goddess of eloquence

"

I sing you in shadows

In shades of misty morning grays

And bid your hand  a lovers waltz

Then dance you into day

I whisper you in kisses

and press your heart upon my page

and write your eyes in ebony stories

with ink of darkest sage

I cradle you in sea-shells

and catch your tears-drops in my hand

then form them into castles carved

of ice and sifted sand

I gather you in subtle storms

in lipid pools of light

through echo's born of distant songs

and sighs of deepest night

I bleed you into sunsets

and paint your soul across the sky

then wrap myself in twilight hues

and dream you into flight
