Eyes of FireA Poem by DaniI was going to do this for Poetic Whisper's Wicked Wind contest, but lost the link or something. Anyways, I enjoyed writing it. :) Sometimes you just need a prompt to create some inspiration!A man walks down the road Far, far from his abode. The night is cold, Moon burns gold. All he needed was some sugar, Wandering for a kind sir, To grant the desire And To get him out of his quagmire The wicked wind whistled in the night, Leaves blow, a loss of sight A man in black, unnoticed before Appeared as the air roared. He sauntered up to the man, Black coat tails dragging in the sand, In his hand he held a bag And in it glimmered a white flag. Sugar! In its purest form! Granules in a white swarm! On this cold dismal night, Full of rain and no light. How could he deny A man’s kindness, a well concealed lie. He reached for it with a warm, greedy Hand ,a needy Man. But the man in black stopped him, before he can He says with a cool smile, lifting his hand May I have you soul when you return to the sand? The man being poor And finding religion a bore, Agreed, whole heartedly, Yet his heart beat rapidly , As doubt spread in his mind, Perhaps this man was not so kind. But he did not take back his promise Though it would lead to his demise. He had a family to feed And this man, not others, had filled his need.
Flame flickering and his gaze mild Teeth gleamed bright, sharp, ready to bite! The man turned, black coat tails dragging in the sand To his fire and brimstone land. © 2010 DaniAuthor's Note
