The Noble ExperimentA Poem by Daniwrote it for AP US history last year...I had fun with it. :)Oh, how debased the 18th lie, As gunshots rain down from the skies- No one fights it- Our blood of hops and barley fill a pit Needed to sustain And the police have no reason to complain They have their money, Honey, Warmed by the barrel of a gun, by a man on the run, Perhaps their blood, their soul is none. Cesspools in the speakeasy, Makes morally good queasy Woman bare all The mobster squall Ruling in their chaos call Jazz blares as if to declare How the sprouts of this are bare The effects were as transient As a lament of a long dead tragedy. The prosperity stops But the cure is in the hops! Economic growth paired with With Roosevelt’s quoth “America could use a drink.” Is a good thing I should think, For in the time the banks did die It would help to have taxes high Perhaps what ran into our blood And through the streets as though a flood Was the cure a nation needs And like great steeds Came the 21st It quenched the thirst Of a nation of the free And paved a new economy. © 2010 DaniAuthor's Note
