The Hunter and the HoundA Poem by DaniIt's a ballad about love and racism. Fun stuff.I hold my darling close Feeling a double dose Of love course through my veins, Forcing a loss of control in my brain. Her beauty is divine, A heaven sent, and she is mine! Golden hair and pale blue eyes, They would be any mans’ demise. Only one turn of the moon, My beloved wed in June. Forever our souls seem bound, Like the hunter and the hound. We stumble through the park, Love drunk, through the dark. A man as pitch black as night, Walks into our line of sight. She scowls and snarls at the man, Screams because of his deep tan. She runs her mouth, how he is wrong How he’ll be gone, not long. She’d do it with her bare hands. Drain his blood across the sands. Rip him apart, limb from limb, As long as she’d be killing him. Hatred of an entire race. Anger towards a black face. Vivid rage flares in her eyes, Lightening flashes from the sky. My beloved wed in June, You seemed to me a certain boon, But more you talk the less I love. Where did you go my peaceful dove? Violent words and violent acts; Will she attack? Thoughts scamper quickly, I begin feeling sickly. Why did I see her a find? My beloved wed in June, Now I know we will part soon. For she’s the hunter, I’m the hound And I will be forever bound, To her dark, blind ways Causing chaos day by day. © 2010 DaniAuthor's Note
