Caught in a Web

Caught in a Web

A Poem by Dani

like a spider,

all those eyes,

eyes peering at you from every

direction.

they look sad, sorrowful,

and somewhat sickened

that you let it get this

far.

you can’t look up

the shackles of

shame

keep your eyes to the ground.

molten hot tears like lava

mar you face, sear your

grace,

and serve only to tear you down.

shouldn’t this be  self-affirming?

reassuring?

that so many care,

about how you fare?

shouldn’t you feel

grand?

that they don’t want you

six feet under in the sand?

but their furrowed brows,

their anxious

frowns,

make the sandy ground seem

all the more inviting.
