The lover & the tide

The lover & the tide

A Poem by DannyGraves

I am cold,
with head in hand
down in the place I saw her last,
under the pier with water and sand
watching the low tide rise, fast.

Should I remain
and let it be today,
or refrain and see what comes tomorrow,
for if I choose to lay here and stay
it would only pass on more sorrow.

So I start to head home,
eastward from the sea
towards the life I live for another,
with forced hope that one day you and I will be
together, my long lost lover.
