Our Country and Our FreedomA Story by DannyBoy300I was asked to write an essay at school on the subject of "Are you proud of your country". Here it is. Picture from aast.wordpress.comOur Country
and Our Freedom Today, in America, a lot of people don’t wonder how
it all happened. How we came here. Why we are allowed to live here in a
democracy. How we have a law that gives us the power to keep the people that
want to harm us away from the public. But we never realize what is happening
around us. But some don’t care, that’s what I am not proud of.
But I am proud, however of what our forefathers did to give us this land. What
they went through to get us away from a monarchy. And I thank God for allowing
Christopher Columbus to find this land. A land where we have freedom, where we
have “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”(from the Declaration of Independence, if I'm correct...). This is what our
forefathers intended in our land. But what have we done with our
country. Do we have values? Do we care? I think we all need to be asked that
question. Look at what happens everyday. People are protesting against our
military. A military where the people in it are willing to risk their lives to
keep you and me safe. They are protecting us and we should support them. I am ashamed
that most don’t care. That most would rather turn their heads in disgust than
support the cause of our people risking their own lives to protect a country
that our forefathers, by God’s will, were able to find this great land in which
they escaped to freedom. If they didn’t help in this fight, what would stop
terrorists from invading our country and harming us. There are people who hate
our nation and we need to respect God, and those who risk their lives to
protect it. I am proud of what our forefathers did for this land. But would
have more pride in our country if we still held strong the values that our
forefathers believed in when they found this land. In conclusion, I am grateful that God has given us a
land where we are able to be free, a country where we can have freedom of
speech and belief and it doesn’t matter what your race is but the weight of the
actions in your heart. A place where you can choose who your leader is. And I
thank God for this great land. A country where we can be free. The United
States of America. © 2011 DannyBoy300 |
