Tiny Toes

Tiny Toes

A Poem by Danie
"

Oh those tiny toes

"
Ignorance,
From the truth is powerful.
Tiny toes tapple across glistening fields and shiny streams,
As they do not know,
Not yet anyhow,
What it is like to have true heartbreak.
What it is like to understand death.
What it is like to be plauged by anxieties and stress.
About the future, about the past.
About the now, about being last.
These tiny toes,
Only think of now.
How their plum faces smile when they see their friends at school,
Only worrying about having the next go on the bike.
These tiny toes only view life as a beautiful playground,
Shielded by the ones who aren't ignorant.
These tiny toes are safe,
For now,
Ignorance is bliss.

Just something I sprang off the top of my head. About children and how we need to protect them from this ruthless world.

I don't think we ever can protect them, sorry to say. The lucky ones know only joy. The unlucky ones are initiated into hell from an early age.

Your first line threw me but I suddenly realized what you meant and I agree. If only the real world wasn't waiting with its sharp teeth. But it is. The real world, ruthless, mean, evil, is out there and the most joyful child will grow up to see it. It's every parent's hope that the wolfs of society won't swallow up their children.
