To Bid You FarewellA Poem by M.D LeonTo Bid You Farewell
I am awaiting, the sunrise You sleep in my memory, bringing me solace Your voice I cannot hear, in this realm of nothingness You have lost your innocence, you have lost yourself
My mind was once prisoner of your essence That essence is now nothing more than memories of pain and darkness I gave my whole And in pieces you left me
So as time moved on, so did I Away from those lips, away from your scent But time is a fair judge And thought its transcendence you found your self-destruction
Now I see the dawn And what without you I have become A soul full of joy and free of your lies But as I see your future, I see I’m the only fortunate one
I once thought you were beautiful, and beautiful you were for sure But that futile beauty became the artist of you own demise I once loved you above anything else But your actions, your decision, yourself leave me feeling nothing more than pity
And so you slept around living a dream And now you awaken to the reality of your misery You ask me for love? All I can give you is mercy, Imperfect and shameful
So these words I write not to tell you I will be with you But to bid you farewell You
threw me out of life, and now so will I
My dear, my beloved Fly away with your broken wings Fly away to the arms of that other for which you left me May he show you the love, the passion, and the happiness I gave you
For now that which you left will be for someone else Someone more grateful than you I do not despise you, I simply don’t understand If you had it all, why did you throw it away in one night in arms of someone else?
