Hymn for Emancipation

Hymn for Emancipation

A Poem by M.D Leon

Hymn for Emancipation

Take a look at your people Lord; see the demons within
Why are we so afraid of the dark?
Why are we so afraid to love?
Why are we so afraid to die?
Why do your words and our minds collide?

They’re rejecting
They’re rejecting
They’re rejecting
They reject your heart

Tell me why oh Lord we drifted so, apart

Lord it’s too late, they are jaded
They hate, they are aching

They are fading
They are fading
They are fading
They are fading into the dark

Will they face it
will they face it
will they face it
Will they face your wrath

Tell me why oh Lord we drifted so, apart

Look at their flesh oh Lord, they are born from disease
Look at their souls oh Lord, so full of dis ease

I am no demon yet Lord, just a beggar for peace

Author's Note

M.D Leon
The separation of disease into dis ease is done on purpose. I don't want to spoil why, but hope you understand the reason.

Ah yes. Formidable word play - those last three lines drive the whole thing home. Well done.
