WAR

From hole punch to stapler and paperclip,

 close together on most desks they sit.

Yet you do not gasp, that these three things,

are more like you and me than you think.  

War against one another they lead,

 each believing they are the chosen to lead.  

Whilst they fight one another,

 they don't see the destruction of the common other.  

Is it not funny to see,

their very reason for existence,

 as the enemy.
