Pain Killer

Pain Killer

A Poem by Danielle Thilette

I’ll watch him. Pain!

I’ll stalk him, I’ll find him.

I’ll murder him. Pain!

He appeared out of the calmness of the sky

Like a blue ribbon, and tied me to his feet.

Pain Oh bitter pain! I broke free.

He lurks in shadows. So I contemplate

And carefully calculate my moves.

I will skin him smooth, and bare

To his tender roots. Pain!

You will not touch me anymore.

You will no longer molest my conscience.

Our battleship shall sink

And my lungs shall fill with pleasure.

No more-

               Pain!
