I am. I have. I was. I will. I can.

I am. I have. I was. I will. I can.

A Poem by Danielle Thilette

I am beautiful.
I am not perfect.
I do not look like her.
I am educated.
I am.

I have been called a w***e.
I have made mistakes.
I have seen the bottom
I have done all I can.
I have.

I was immature.
I was ignorant.
I was ignoring the truth.
I was 19.
I was.

I will be successful.
I will embody the responsibility of caring for another life.
I will sing a lullaby to the world.
I will be myself and no one else.
I will.

I can be a b***h.
I can make anyone smile.
I can do anything I wish.
I can claim innocent.
I can.

A woman is a mysterious creature,

and just when I think I understand its nature

it evolves into something like none other.

I couldn't ask to be something more

beautiful than a woman.

There are many layers beneath this gentle flesh.

Pull them apart carefully,

for some layers may stick together

and you may never discover

 the brillance between them.
