Window

Window

A Poem by Danielle Thilette

I keep my window cracked so that you can see my sorrow.
See happiness, feel my laughter and tears.
I keep my window cracked to let in the rain.
To disengage my mind.
I will let you sneak a peak, but do not climb inside.
I keep my window cracked to witness the rustling of the leaves,
the conversations of strangers that put me at ease.
I keep my window cracked so that I am a friend yet a foe
giving in ,but not giving up what is mine.
I keep my window cracked to relinquish my anger,
and let it float among the clouds into the shadows of the night.
I keep my window cracked because my saddness consumes vast space,
though smiles often invade.
I keep my window cracked.
