FireflyA Poem by DanielleA poem with a hidden meaningSo the woman loved the fireflies Though it wasn’t meant to be That an inch of light would wander Unsuspectingly past her heart and being And the pounding beat would stutter Though she never questioned why But soon the darkness lifted And she wished them all goodbye The day was all too new for her The vanished world amiss In all her thoughts and daydreams Fireflies had touched her kiss They pondered through her eyesight Danced around her bed And led her to the meadow Where this woman wished instead To be a tiny firefly And dance amongst the stars To fill another’s thoughts and dreams To shine the brightest light to be From inside her the wish had started Her body began to shine As the onlookers graced her presence There was someone left behind He looked upon her new beauty And with a saddened sigh Began to walk the other way From his little firefly She turned with her new eyesight Now blinded by the sting His memory swept her presence His touch still tousled her wings And with no other thought She slowly wished again To walk the earth with footsteps And become a human And as she walked closer towards him The crowd left her behind And he stared with deep admiration Into her silver eyes Their lips touched ever gently Her man had wondered why This light instilled inside him Had ever wished to be a firefly © 2010 DanielleReviews
