H/I(miss)M

H/I(miss)M

A Poem by Danielle Olivia
"

the story of a girl who loved a boy, but the boy never quite loved her

"

I miss him

I don’t want to

Because he’s the one

Who left me

Here

Alone

For her

That lovely lady

Who threatened me

Scolded me

Spat on me

Manipulative

Conniving

Her revenge

On me

She got it

She got him

But I still miss him

I miss the conversations

The smiles

The laughs

I miss ….

Everything

Misplaced freckles

Shaggy hair

Strong arms

Smooth voice

I went by many names

I was the other

Forbidden fruit

Temptress

Mary Magdalene incarnate

I shouldn’t be surprised

Its happened before

Three times

And they’ve always had

Significant others

But I thought

This time would be

Different

Maybe this time

We could be

Together

He asked me on a real date

One time

But bailed

whenever he was done with me

He would go running back to you

But I still miss him

I want him

If only to see him

Smile

Laugh

Caress

Anything

I was never Eve

Always the apple

But Adam never did bite me

I love the title. Big fan of E.E. Cummings, and for once I get to read something that wasn't by him and it comes off sounding as natural.
as far as the poem I really liked the minimalist lines and the way you broke it up. From the start it builds slowly till it all adds up to that last little sting in the final line.

A amazing poem. When we desire someone and are left out. Hard to understand. I like how you told the story in this poem. Desire can leave us wishing. I did like the ending. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
