The Gay Angel

The Gay Angel

A Poem by Lucas Grasha

The Gay Angel

I have a dream;

one which I think to be a long-extended metaphor.

A dream in which I am walking into the darkness of cavernous woods,

like a German folklore character wandering into the

Schwarzwald.

In the woods,

I find an old temple,

the old structure’s outside marked only by a circle of crumbling marble pillars.

As I walk into the temple,

I am somehow armed with a tuna fish and I am greeted by a man made of overcoats.

I then proceed to stare for a short eternity into the eyes of the overcoat man.

We then sweatily wrestle each other to the ground

and I hit him multiple times with the tuna fish I was armed with.

I’m not too sure what happens after I

fall unconscious in the dream,

but I always wake next to the man made of overcoats without wearing any clothing…

by that point,

the overcoat man disintegrates into large spools of yarn.

After I regain my stance, I walk to the centre of the temple,

where there lays a delicate corset of gold, bathed in the penalty of the placing fire…

that fire I must race through to obtain that sex-associated desire,

the nature that drives our species;

but when I pick up the corset and the

Red Maiden solidifies in the fabric,

I look back through the ring of fire and see my true love,

that one woman I’ve loved…

I want to race back to my love,

but when I try,

the fires engulf me,

and the Red Maiden cackles with glee…

and when I wake,

I always find myself lying on the floor of a gay bar;

and there is always present the same macho gay man to pick me up from the floor…

I tell him

I’m not gay

and he always says,

“That’s okay, honey--I’ll call

the love of your life so she can come here and pick you up.”

I never told him about my true love…

so I’ve deduced that he is a gay angel sent down from Heaven.

This poem made me want to be bisexual, actually.

Or maybe a bisexual angel ;-)

hmmmm interesting angle
for when i think of angels
i don't see gender as i perceive them as spirits not bodies with physical needs as humans

A very interesting dream-- it seems as if it was indeed a huge unconscious metaphor.But I don't think the dream is implying that your gay. Perhaps, this dream of yours, was just a mirage. I don't know, all I know is that this dream is very interesting, especially since you dreamt this up!

I don't know if Angels had preference. I never put any thoughts into the theory. I did like the story in the poem. A Angels is still a angel what ever they need and want. Thank you for the excellent poem.

I like it. He's dreaming then comes back to reality where you have to end up questioning whatever happened to him in the first place.
