Sonnet 9

Sonnet 9

A Poem by Lucas Grasha

The sun crests on the hill as I enjoy the sunrise,

it may as well be the last moment of my life.

For I’m sure of my death, I cannot disregard

that my soul will give up along with my heart.

I need not goodbye’s, I need not parting gifts,

I have done all the things I wished in the time I’ve lived.

So bring me some wine, a nice supper, and company,

let’s enjoy this all before you’ll say goodbye to me.

I’ll try to hold your hand at midday, and should you laugh,

I’ve started to think that you’ve been my other half.

And by sunset, please give me your bliss,

as we exchange between us one, final kiss.

My dearest of dears, fear my passing, not,

I’ll wait on the Otherside, for you are all I’ve got.

Rhyming brought out the magic in this. I loved it... don't get the story, is it a man dying of a disease or something? Anyways J'adore!

A short and to the point sonnet. I like the pace and the strong statements in the poem.
"And by sunset, please give me your bliss,
as we exchange between us one, final kiss."
A excellent poem. Thank you.

You've no idea how eagerly I've been waiting for this poem, simply because your words bring a feeling to me, just that it feels like someone else understands, and I understand them (the poems, not necessarily the writer. The words in the poems are powerful). And now that I've read it; I know it was worth the wait as I thought it would be. A story is spun into the words of this poem, of a man or person on his final day and doing the last things he shall ever do and really wants to do in his limited time. That is what your words said to me, and yet I do not know if its different to you when you wrote it, or to the others who have read and will read this. You truly have a blessed talent for these poems and I applaud you for that talent not many, myself not included in the few, have. Keep writing, for I as well as others will be waiting for the next story you tell in your words. Keep writing, my friend :)

Definitely 100/100. There is nothing I would change.

I like the tone, which was delivered superbly. I think this is an excellent example of a sonnet and I might go to school off of this.

I love sonnets and this one is very well written. Your use of language and the subject of death as not such a bad thing makes this an excellent piece. So many favorite lines.. ok, I like them all, but the last two are sheer brilliance.
