![]() I Would Buy You A New LifeA Poem by Lucas GrashaThe
wings of an angel, to keep and protect. Horrid
thoughts ensue, in doing so infect. Distract
the happiness away from the mind to
make room for itself, once, a second time. Fires
charged with embers that won’t go out. Recurring
nightmares force all the dreams down. Angels
from faith seem only to forget, the
leaving they do, for which, they’ve no regret. Hardships
won by the ones who deserve not, through
hope and trial, better things, they sought. But
I would trade places, my life to you, I’d
go through all I know I couldn’t do. I
know not what it’s like to cry at night, or
what it truly is to be scared for my life. I
know not the sound of bullets and guns, or
what it is to be surviving to run. I
know not what it’s like to sleep in rags, or
not knowing when next to pack my bags. I
Say I’ll know hardship, oh yes, I will! But
I have not witnessed someone about to be killed. All
I can offer is the warmth of my hand. I
will buy you a new life, only if I can. For
I believe not in the angels of faith, but
I think I am one of the angels here today. © 2011 Lucas GrashaFeatured Review
