Spies of Furry: Mall Catastrophe - Chapter FourA Chapter by Daniel BlueflyerHuang could hear the footsteps getting louder and louder coming from the left exterior side of the store. They are coming this way! We are trapped!
Trying to calm himself, Huang was thinking a way out from this mess. Then he remembered Aldopha’s instructions: engage any enemies you encountered and arrest them.
He finally made a choice.
“Daniel, I want you to exit this mall through the back door of this shop. If I’m not mistaken, it should lead outside the mall.” commanded Huang while he referred a door way at the end of the shop. “Don’t mind me. I will be all right.”
Daniel eyes grew wide. He didn’t expect Huang to say that.
“No! I can’t abandon you just like that!” protested Daniel. “Shouldn’t you escape with me as well?”
Huang grinned. “I got some business to settle with those guys out there. If I don’t come back, you can have my Alpha Wolves Gunners 3.” He perfectly knew Daniel still hasn’t got that famed, popular and the latest first-person shooter game series yet.
Daniel was hesitating to leave him behind because he refused to; that’s not what best friend all about.
“Never! You hear me? N-E-V-E-R!” hooted Daniel. “If you are going to meet those guys, then count me in.”
Stubborn as usual, Huang spoke in his mind.
“Okay then, on two conditions: you must always stick with me and do whatever I say.” said Huang.
“Ha! That wouldn’t be a problem.” Daniel responded coolly and he laid an arm over to Huang’s right shoulder.
“What are you doing?” Huang inquired, puzzled.
“You said I need to stick with you.” replied Daniel.
“Not literally!” said Huang, face pawing in annoyance.
“Ha! Ha! Ha! I’m just joking, Huang.” said Daniel, laughing at Huang’s frustration.
At that time, they heard loud yet ferocious voices and it sounded nearer them.
“Come out! We know you’re hiding in there!”
Daniel gazed at Huang and Huang stared at Daniel. Then they both nodded, grinning.

The villains entered the entryway of the store. It was dark and gloomy in there. No surprises, they were in a costume shop and the walls are painted black and decorated with many types of Halloween displays. Although it became much worst when there weren’t any lights in the shop as someone cut off the power supply when the shootout began. Cautiously, they took out their plasma blaster each from the holsters. Carl and Watson got into a single file position when they moved about through the racks. Carl was at the forward while Watson was at behind as they patrolled in the shop. Little know Huang and Daniel had plans for them…
“Now Daniel!” shouted a voice.
The villains startled by Huang’s snarls without realizing they were trapped. The racks between them were unstable and before they could say: ‘what the…?’ the heavy metal racks toppled and fell over them. Daniel and Huang grimaced as it fell over the villains.
“Ow…” uttered Carl in pain. They both couldn’t budge from the hefty racks. The more they struggle, the more the racks pressured on them; Carl and Watson were defeated.
“This is the greatest massage I’ve ever felt!” claimed Watson.
“Is there something wrong with your nerves, Watson?” questioned Carl in despair.
Huang head over both of the villains and handcuff their paws over a heavy object so they won’t get away later on. When he successfully done it, Huang thought it’s time for some interrogations.
“Now then, you’re going to me what you are all doing here.” said Huang.
“Who are you?” asked Carl, sounded a little mean too. He couldn’t see as the racks covered entirely over them.
“My name doesn’t matter you. Now, I want you to tell me your motives of doing here.”
Carl growled.
“Shan’t!” he hooted to Huang.
“Fine.” said Huang. He went over to the rack that panned down Carl and sat on it.
“OUCH!! OW! DARN IT!” he shrieked painfully. “STOP SITTING ON THE RACK! YOU ARE CRUSHING MY CHEST!”
“I won’t leave until you are willing to tell.” replied Huang.
Huang heard Carl sighed. Good, he has given in.
“All right, I will tell!” said Carl, reluctantly.
Huang quickly stood up from the rack.
“Ah… much better…” said Carl. Then he told the whole story to Huang. As he progressed, Huang eyes widen in disbelieve. When he was done, Huang grabbed Daniel’s paw and quickly exited the shop. He sprinted over to the rally point where he and his friends suggested earlier and Huang kept dragging Daniel with him.
“Yo! What’s gotten in your head?” asked Daniel. “And don’t jerk me like that. It’s uncomfortable!”
Huang released Daniel’s paw.
“Sorry.” Huang apologized. “Didn’t you listen?”
Daniel shook his head. “I wasn’t paying much attention just now, sorry.”
“Okay. I will explain along the way.” said Huang and continued dashing ahead. Daniel followed.
“Those two dudes we tackled just now, they are actually in a group named the Dark Venom Gang. They are famed for robbing in large scale without getting themselves caught and track by the police. But nothing compared to their known for explosive demolition of buildings.”
Daniel suddenly halted his pace, astounded by Huang’s words. Huang stopped without facing him.
“You don’t say…” Daniel uttered with a feeling of anticipation yet disturbed.
Huang turned to face Daniel with worried and agitated look.
“Yes, they set bombs in buildings and this mall is their next target.” said Huang heavily and grimly.
Daniel grimaced in fear and somehow, mixed with anger.
“We cannot allow that to happen!” growled Daniel. “This mall is iconic to the whole New Meryl Island; the biggest mall of the whole island. At least hundreds have taken part in the construction of this mall and we cannot let their efforts go waste just like that!”
And that’s what I admire about you, thought Huang, impressed by Daniel’s patriotic statement.
“Then we better hurry over to the rally point me and my other pals suggested.” said Huang and continued his pace.
“Like where?” asked Daniel, too proceeded his run. “Wait, there were others?”
“The main lobby.” replied Huang. He didn’t reply the second question as he wanted to rush against time.

“There you are Huang!” yelled Aldopha.
Huang and Daniel just arrived at the main lobby, panting for air. They stopped when they approached Aldopha and Calvin. Daniel gasped as he bends down to his knees.
“I guess there’s a disadvantage for mega malls.” commented Daniel, wheezing.
“You bet. I felt like I’m in a school marathon.” remarked Huang.
Calvin chuckled lightly while Aldopha just shook her head, smiling over their pathetic reactions. Suddenly, something crossed Aldopha’s mind.
“Wait a minute! What are you doing here Daniel?” questioned Aldopha in great surprised.
Daniel just paused for a moment and gazed at Aldopha. He only gave an awkward response.
“Err… I kinda caught myself into a ‘crossfire’ situation here. So… here I am!” then Daniel gave a dumb grin.
Aldopha then turned over to face Huang with her perplexed face.
“Huang, I did order you to escort any civilians or hostages to the exit of the mall, didn’t I?” told Aldopha.
Huang scratched his head although it wasn’t itchy.
“Um… we do know Daniel is persistent as ever, right?” said Huang gawkily.
“Which means he refused to leave, isn’t?” questioned Aldopha.
Huang nodded. Aldopha just gave a huge sigh.
“Things just get more complicated than I expected it to be.” she mentioned and face pawed. © 2011 Daniel BlueflyerAuthor's Note
