Spies of Furry: Mall Catastrophe - Chapter Three

Spies of Furry: Mall Catastrophe - Chapter Three

A Chapter by Daniel Blueflyer

"Ha! Ha! We did it!" Huang exclaimed in joy and wanted to have a hi-five slap with Aldopha. Waiting for hers, she just rolled her eyes, smirking. Never less, she gave Huang a hi-five slap.

"Booya!" screamed Calvin excitedly.

"Wait. There are a few things we need to clear up." said Aldopha. "Firstly, we need to inform HQ about this attack. I doubt the police are able to handle these guys so we need backup from our own squadron."

Sure enough; outside the building were a few policemen scum about on the ground as they were greatly beaten up by the gang. They groaned and moaned in pain. Only the chief and a few more of his men loaded themselves with pistols and shotguns still stood their ground.

"Men, fall back! Fall back! We need back up, it’s the Dark Venom Gang!" ordered the chief of the Archive City Police.

“Yeah, that’s right! You all better retreat! Don’t make me slaughter you all!” threaten a voice.

Back in the building...

"Secondly, we need to find out the gang's motive. I just hoped they are not planning anything too devious. Thirdly, we need to rescue the hostages if there are. And lastly, Huang, did you shot Fang with non-lethal laser?" she asked.

“Yeah, I did. Why would you want to know?” replied Huang.

She knelt over Fang with a set of handcuffs in her paws and cuffed Fang's right paw with a metal pole nearby.

"There. Now he won't escape when he revives."

"Right... now, how are we going to bust ourselves out from here?" said Huang when he walked towards the steel frames.

Huang softly knocked the steel frames, wanting to judge its strength. All the sudden, when he knocked it for the fourth time, the whole frame fell apart. The trio stared awkwardly at the fallen frame. Then, Aldopha and Calvin faced to Huang. He only gave a hasty grinned.

"Err... I did it?" uttered Huang.

The group exited the shop and saw loneliness in the mall. There were nothing living, not a soul sighted in the area. Huang thought he just entered into an abandoned spooky mansion.

"Okay... what should we do now?" inquired Huang, not really knowing what to do.

Aldopha paused for a few seconds. Then she snapped her fingers.

"Venture the mall for any sign of survivors and the Dark Venom Gang. Let's split up so we can cover more area. If any of us found a civilian or more, escort them to the exit. Engage any enemies you encounter and arrest them. Make sure to inquire them about their motive and the anonymous boss of their gang; till today, we still do not know who, the leader of this gang is and this is an opportunity to find out. "

Huang and Calvin nodded in understood.

Huang decided to explore the southern side of the mall; Calvin gone north whereas Aldopha went east. They agreed to meet again at the main lobby.

At the same level, step by step, Huang vigilantly scanned his surroundings. He wouldn't want to engage the members of the gang without preparing himself first. His ears twitched when he heard something behind him. He turned around to see a male wolf that looked like the same age as him crouching at the entrance of a coffee café. His fur was beaver coloured and he was wearing a black T-shirt with white line patterns and had blue trousers. That wolf gazed at Huang for a few heartbeats and so as Huang.

"Friend or foe?" asked Huang.

"Friend, friend!" he replied.

The stranger raised himself up with his hands up. Huang widen his eyes in astonishment.

"Daniel?"

"…Huang?"

Huang couldn't believe his eyes. His best pal from school, here in the mall!

"Dude, how in the world you ended up here?" questioned Daniel.

“Err…” Huang couldn’t utter a word because he stumbled across a good question: why was he here in the mall when he should exit from it at the very beginning? Suddenly, something crossed Huang’s mind. “What are YOU doing here? Shouldn’t you be running back home?”

Daniel stared at Huang’s puzzled face for a few moments. He chuckled lightly when he saw his bewildered face. He’s always funny whenever he’s astonished, mentioned Daniel in his mind. Next, he answered Huang’s question which was a little unbelievable.

“I was in a café before that incident happened. Some wolf knocked me in my head unconscious when they heard those gunshots, probably they panicked and rushed for their lives till they gone stampede mode. The next thing I knew, I found myself lying on a lonely floor and encountered you.” explained Daniel. “By the looks of the place, is this a mall shootout we are facing? Now I have told my story, what’s yours?”

Huang paused to think for a while. He couldn’t say he was on a mission as that would give his identity away. So, he decided not to reveal it.

“It’s a long story buddy.” said Huang. “I will tell you everything later. Right now, just follow my lead. As for that question, you may likely call it.” Daniel nodded in agreement. And so, Huang goes front first and Daniel followed by.

“Keep an eye out just in case.” Huang warned to Daniel. He doesn’t want his best friend die in front of him. Or my name isn’t Huang Yi Mao.

The wolves continuously walked across the corridor while staying attentive for any potential threats; they are in the middle of the mall filled with members of the Dark Venom Gang. The worst case scenario they may face is losing a tail yet alive later on. It would be a total embarrassment when you meet with other wolves without your prideful tail.  Several minutes later, Huang spotted two silhouettes in front of him. With his tail, Huang halted Daniel’s trail by shoving his tail to Daniel’s stomach. Huang then raised two fingers and pointed to those silhouettes. Hurriedly, they both hid in a dark store.

Crouching at the entrance while at the same time, they tried not to reveal their location. Huang and Daniel peaked at the figures and they seemed to be rummaging a mini stall located not far from them. Huang identified them as the members of the gang as they wore the same jumpsuit like Fang’s. One, whom has grey fur, stood on watch while the other whom has red fur was scavenging a drawer.

“Eureka! I found it!” cried one of them enthusiastically. He was searching through a drawer and founded some cash.

The other one just watched him in disgust. “No big deal! That’s just a small amount. Now stop wasting time! We got work to do.” The wolf with the cash just smiled stupidly. The other smacked him in his face.

Huang activated his CSS HOLO (Hologram) Optical Headset, a wireless gear used by agents to identify villains, spot potential dangers, estimate the distance between the enemy and the agent and many more. A slightly blue, transparent rectangular screen as small as it fits perfectly in front of his eyes appeared. Now, Huang can recognize further about their identity. Two crosshairs occurred and it scanned the faces of the members. Then, two small windows emerged. It contained high-definition mug shots and all the profile about those two fellows.

“I see… according to Intel, these duos are often seen each other. They are Carl Tyle (the one that smacked his pal) and Watson Urbam.” Huang read the descriptions displayed on the screen of the headset.

“Wow… where did you get that?”

Huang heard his friend’s question. When he faced Huang, Daniel was excitedly wagging his tail back and forth, oblivious towards the CSS HOLO Optic Headset.

“Is that a hologram screen?? O.M.G!” bellowed Daniel. Oops. I just exposed my identity, thought Huang. At that moment, his thoughts quickly got cut off as something interrupted his mind.

“Shush! They may hear you.” said Huang to Daniel.

Only then Daniel realized his mistake and immediately zipped his mouth. But it was too late.

“Hey, who goes there?” called out a voice outside from the dark store.

“Darn! We have been compromised!” whispered Huang, half-panicked.

Author's Note

Daniel Blueflyer
Okay, this story is not exactly a book. It is supposed to be a short story however, it's difficult to keep it 'short'. Since my story is way too long for a story type, I decided to insert my story into a book type since I wish to divide my story to parts which is similar to chapters.

You also might notice I didn't describe the environment enough. That's the major problem I'm facing so if you have any tips on improving that skill, please do not hesitate to share. You're much welcome! Thank you and don't forget to review!
