Spies of Furry: Mall Catastrophe - Chapter One

"Finally, we're here!"

 

As a white MVP just finished reversing into the parking space, a wolf jumped out from the right driver seat when he opened the door. The blackish-ash fur wolf has brown eyes and wore a yellow T-shirt with striking patterns on it and light brown trousers was doing a few stretches as he waited for the rest to exit the car.

 

"Man, my bones felt like crackling cereals." said the wolf as the engine of the car died.

 

"Well, look whose excited today." remarked a yellow-tan fur wolf who has dark brown eyes and wore a red sweater and a pair of blue jeans whom is the driver.

 

"Please, Huang." said another wolf whom is the passenger. "We are only going to a mall. You don't have to get excited over small fuss."

 

Huang grinned to the white-fade grey fur she-wolf with pretty blue eyes and wore a white sweater and darker blue jeans.

 

"Not just any mall, Aldopha." he replied. "It's the biggest mall in the entire New Meryl Island! Introducing, the AC Mall!" he pointed towards the gigantic building in front of them.

 

The building is a triangular complex structure that is built with concrete, steel and glass. The surface is decorated with transparent glass windows and there is another layer of metal on top of the building supported by several gigantic metal rods. You can say it's an eco-friendly building; it is designed to have a marvelous ventilation system so it doesn't need much air-conditioner in the building.

 

"You are acting like a pup. Grow up!" Aldopha commented over Huang's reactions. "We are here to shop for some... err..." 

 

"A new CPU." interrupted the yellow-tan fur wolf.

 

"...thanks Calvin. Yes, we are only here for a CPU..." Aldopha continued.

 

"...after we venture the mall, of course." Calvin added into Aldopha's statement.

 

“Agreed.” said Aldopha, patting away the dust on her clothes.

 

“I heard the famed bookstore, WhiteBooks is open in that mall.” said Calvin. “If it is true, I’m so going to pay a visit.”

 

"Tag me along, Calvin. I too want to visit the bookstore." said Huang to Calvin.

 

"In that case, enough chatting; we better press on." replied Calvin promptly. The duo nodded in agreement and they all set off to the main entrance of the mall.

 

While they were walking, more and more wolves started to appear. Pups and adults were heading towards the entryway of the mall. Huang could hear pups laughing and wolves talking each other. A gentle breeze blew the canines as they felt the heat from the sun. It was noon and everyone would visit the mall in that period. 

 

"Hum... I wondered if there is a grocery store. I'm a little thirsty after all this heat." muttered Huang.

 

"We should explore and see if there are some antique stores!" said Aldopha, full of exuberance. 

 

"I hope there REALLY is that bookstore." said Calvin.

 

Wondering whether their wish comes true, they finally reached the main entrance. Cool breeze blew their fur as they entered the entryway.

 

"Wow..." said Huang, awe-struck by the amazing scene he just looked.

 

At once they saw a huge area filled with wolves and pups walking. The group felt chilly as they continued walking through the crowd. You could see shops and stalls at sides and there were levels to explore! Lots of noise and full of activity were going around in the mall.

 

"Come on, guys!" Calvin called out to his gang. "Let's get exploring and find the computer hardware shop..."

 

"Don't forget the antique stall!" Aldopha cut into Calvin's last sentence.

 

"Not to mention, the bookstore!" Huang added.

 

"All right, let's go then." Calvin beckoned the others with his tail and the three set off to explore the mega mall. Here or there, you would find people visiting stores to stores. The trios found a famous French restaurant and they were astonished to see it right in front of their very eyes.

 

"I don't believe it! I never knew such famed restaurant will appear right in front of our very eyes!" Aldopha beamed.

 

"Ha! Ha! I guess this is the first franchise available in the whole island of New Meryl." concluded Calvin.

 

Huang chuckled, amused by Aldopha's excitement. And yet you called me a pup, thought Huang.

 

They moved on walking around the shopping complex. Moving from levels to levels, they landed themselves at the forth level.

 

"Oh, look what we have here." Huang pointed out a store with tech-like designs. There was a banner hanging outside saying: 'Grand Opening Sale: 30% discount offered for every purchase for first 150 customers!'

 

"This is interesting. Come on guys, let's spend some money." said Calvin.

 

They entered the store and it was a pleasant sight. It was spacious and there were metal racks displaying computer equipment, sets of keyboards, USB thumb drive for sale, computer mouse and many more. There were also a few desks located at the right side of the shop. On the top of the desk were brand new CPUs and laptops; the latest and trending! The shop’s interior designs were quite techy looking which made Huang rather comfortable because he is a computer geek (Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean he kept everything to himself). As the group were admiring, a wolf moved towards them. He looked rather lean and he had glasses and wore the franchise staff uniform. He had a black tie on him as well. His tail wagged eagerly back and forth when he saw the group. Huang reckoned he was one of the staffs in the shop.

 

"Hello there, welcome to HO Tech!" he greeted friendly to the group. The three were impressed by his friendly approach.

 

"We are here to buy a CPU, please." Calvin spoke.

 

"Then you picked the right place, sir. May I interest you...”

Outside the shop, there was a wolf wearing a janitor clothing, standing while moping the floor of the lobby at the ground level. As a crowd of people went pass him,

 

Beep! Beep!

 

His earpiece situated in his right ear rang. He pressed it with his right paw.

 

"Yes boss?" he inquired.

 

"Begin Operation: Black Mall." ordered a rather deep voice from his earpiece.

 

"Sure boss." he grinned somewhat wickedly and he turned off his earpiece.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

 

Huang's ears twitched as the noise rang inside his ears. The loud sounds also caught the group's attention.

 

"Did you guys hear that?" questioned Huang to the others.

 

"Yeah, it sounded like..." Calvin got cut off by Aldopha.

 

"…gunshots?"

 

The next thing they knew, they heard lots of loud, eerie screams and panic yells which made the group's fur fluffed up and sent chills across their spine. Aldopha's eyes were wide in shock, Calvin was spell bounded whereas Huang startled a little.

Author's Note

Okay, this story is not exactly a book. It is supposed to be a short story however, it's difficult to keep it 'short'. Since my story is way too long for a story type, I decided to insert my story into a book type since I wish to divide my story to parts which is similar to chapters.
