Lilies Among Thorns

Lilies Among Thorns

A Poem by Daniel Beilman
"

A poem about purity and self control. Also a growing concern for the youth especially young women today, in a world that discards purity as somthing to hold you back. Keep up hope, hold fast.

"

Save the pearls, from the trampling swines!
You have become, defenseless cities.
Oh young sisters, have you no walls or self control?
But you know, Sheol is never satisfied.
Like so, human desire will never be satisfied!
Did you not hear, the woman’s song
when she, cried out to you?
With her sweet, sweet voice, she said,

“Promise me by the swift gazelle
and the deer of the wild, not to waken
Love until the time is right”
But no! The time wasn’t right!

You were called, to be a city on a hill,
with a light glowing, so all can see
your beauty, let it shine before men
but you grabbed, your basket, and snuffed out
Love is like a vineyard, in perfect bloom,
how delicious, is the fruit produced here!
But we judge, a tree or vine by its fruit.
Or like a field, at the time of harvest,
But if you reap too early, all will be ruined.
So dear sisters, take your pearls away
and hold them close, as you sit in waiting
Shine again, show the contrast of light and dark
for you are to be, lilies among thorns.
