The Corridor

The Corridor

A Poem by Dani California

Her eyes trace the wounds of time,

As hesitation oozes from its sores;

This was never really here, it says

And she wonders where she’s read that before.

Chains are left dangling from her ears

While she wanders the corridor of new sound;

Her captor tugs his chain of controlled thought,

But only slightly, so she’d not know she was bound.

Her mind is oblivious to its prison

Though her spirit begs to be free;

The corridor whispers to her its secrets,

And then urges her to flee.

She doesn’t know why she can no longer stay,

Or why her heart sings a different tune;

The whispers she heard sang of hope and self-love,

Then released her from her mind’s tomb.

This is very interesting and oh, so true of many, many, people. I have found myself amazed at discoveries I have made about old theories, when suddenly freedom sounded the alarm.

your writing is amazing as always...
with a few words you can spin a tale and touch emotions
raised goosebumps as it feels so familiar

I felt like I was a prisioner in my own mind. Struggling with a captor who is really me. Well done Dani, you still got the skills.

riveting writing - gave me chills as I read it. We are often slaves to ourselves.

This calls to mind a womans struggles to free herself from a controlling relationship and finally finding the courage to do so. Very powerful images. Well done.
