Isn't it inspiring to read the work of some of the greatest masters of the various literary genres? I know when I do I am indeed humbled by their precise craftsmanship although I believe they all possess one common trait...depth, for we can craft words in such a way that our subjects agree with our verbs and pronouns refer to the correct antecedent, but unless our spirit is alive with whatever emotions make us the individuals that we are, our work becomes nothing but a lonely manuscript left unread by most.
You have a great deal of soul Dani, and a mind that is not only intellectual and creative, but logical and organized. Once again, you have me thinking...
Therefore, POET (and I don't say that lightly)....you must continue what you have been sent to carry out as only you can...
ah there is hope. I've been here for what seems like forever - back in 06 or 7 before the great poetic crash that took out probably 20 poems I should have saved on my hard drive. Hard lesson to learn. Lately I've been a bit absent due to the encroachment of life, but I've seen you around this place...one of the denizens of WC - perhaps by longevity alone I can rub shoulders with you....
The ryhme in this is wonderful, light easy to read, it appears pretty much effortless which is what we try to do but many of us tank at the effort. I think the last stanza is my favorite.
Peace.
Wonderfully written, and I think you've placed your words here perfectly!
I feel the same way as I read from the "masters". I try to be inspired as oppose
to influenced and they are definitely that! I enjoy the piece and I think you still should "fancy"
yourself a poet! Great pen.....
You have a very light, subtle touch with your words often capturing what is profound and complex a talent to be sure. You are right to pay homage to those whose talent has stood the long test of time. Words written hundreds of years ago, still fresh and new and brimming with inspiration.
My personal take on this though is not to measure my work against that of others (no poetry contests please!) but to measure my own growth, constantly challenge myself and to know that I am truly doing my very best. To touch but one heart with our words is the true measure of our success.
You have tackled a very big subject here and done so very well. But, the words of those who came before us were meant to inspire not as a measure of the value of our own work. It is said that education is a process of discovering how little we know and so it is with writing, too, I think.
Now, off my soapbox. You've done a very good job here and already inspired many others me included.
Wonderful, Dani, you are such a work of art...I love the way your words spin around a person's soul and delievers a well orchstrated canvas of images from your mind.

And you my precious friend are one of the best. You write with conviction, honesty and your heart. You are oh so deep and anyone who knows this art of writing, can see the beauty of your words. I have always admired your deep feelings.
This poem is so beautifully written, D! You are a great poet and one of my favorites. I"m also inspired by reading the great work of others ... Hope you're feeling better sweetie ... hugs
A Noiseless Patient Spiderby Walt Whitman
A noiseless patient spider,
I mark'd where on a little promontory it stood isolated,
Mark'd how to explore the vacant vast surrounding,
It launch'd fort.. more..
