Red Dusk

Red Dusk

A Poem by Dani California

Oil paint and fine textured fabric,

strewn in skies of dusk,

veils understanding;

mere sight is relied upon

as faith prays behind the big picture.

An illusion of senses create beliefs,

cloaked in flesh and arrogance;

seeing is believing.

Denial holds its cloth in place

as sanity unfolds within complacency.

Painted are invisible paths to nowhere,

leaving smudged footprints to follow,

only appearing to be solid;

notions of reality rest within pretense,

as truth stands alone on the other side of dusk.

Many people see only what they want to see, for them - reality is merely that. For those who think as well as see, it becomes more. This poem suggests just that point, and, you use words to make the reader think, use metaphors to create more than just a single thought...

This is a beautifully crafted piece of writing, font colour so right for the beautiful picture

'An illusion of senses create beliefs, / cloaked in flesh and arrogance; / seeing is believing; ' < , sadly, how true.

Thank you for sharing.

Such a lovely painting. ^^ This masterpiece is truly a work of art! And I'm talking about the poem, not the picture. ;) I definitely love the feeling I get when I read through it. I feel like there's a more religious interpretation in here that I just can't grasp. But either way, I'm satisfied with the result of reading this poem; certainly thought-provoking and a joy to read as well. :)

WOW! That was the best yet that I've read of yours. Each last line of each stanza could stand alone as pure poetry itself. This is going in my favorites where truth whispers for conception. Kudos to you.

Great imagery! It's obvious why you're the featured poet!

There are no two people who see the same thing though looking at the same thing. It's a matter of perception. Your anology of the artwork of sun drenched clouds across a painted sky is a perfect example of God's art. One should never look through the beauty of nature without seeing how God designed the scene. Simply beautiful! Your writing is a work of art Dani.

I know it might sound a bit cliche, but this was really deep.

"An illusion of senses create beliefs," What an immutable truth beared out by history.

"as sanity unfolds within complacency." Go too far one way or the other and you have either complacency, or chaos.

Just a wonderful and thought provoking poem.

This was amazing!
I'd have to say my favorite line was:
"Denial holds its cloth in place
as sanity unfolds within complacency. "

This was such an excellent piece. I loved the words you chose and the title and the picture and... everything.
