Moon Dance

Moon Dance

A Poem by Dani California

Play, oh Sarasvati, music divine,

while we dance in the light of the moon;

as spirits ascend from mortal dreams,

singing sweet sounds of her mystical tune.

Night's Titan Goddess halts her chariot,

glittering steeds are harnessed in blue;

her immortal head brightens the sky,

as ceremonial ballets ensue.

Alas, Selene cries out for her lover

"awake my Prince Endymion, soon!",

while worshiping souls dance for her love;

oh fair Goddess of the magical moon.

I love this poem, Greek mythology of Selene and Prince Endymion. You have composed a superb image, but it appears you have linked in a little Hindu mythology also? I think that's wonderful...
>Play oh Sarasvati, music divine,

Very well written, almost whimsical. I agree I have to read up on Greek mythology, but I liked it.

I will have to read the poem which inspired this awesome piece of writing! A perfect rhyme scheme, strong form and brilliant choice of words and "subjects" to weave this fine work of poetic art.

This one speaks to me too. It's inspiring to see a poet here that draws their inspiration from mythology and culture instead of the incessant ramblings of their despairing pre-adolescent minds. It gives you an unseen dimension, knowing you appreciate the roots of creativity. The imagery in this poem is awesome. It takes you to a moonlit greek shore while the deity's dance and play out their own drama. Good stuff.

Wow, LOVELY LOVELY LOVELY read....I use greek mythology in my writes, as well. I can go on and blab about how good your write is, but just like, I savor that feeling in the moment. Well done. ~Ev

This is simply beautiful. I could see the dance in my mind as they danced for her love. Well done.
