One day, my mom was driving me somewhere in her car. The question came up about her parenting, but I don't know how or where it came up, but it did. I can't remember much else than what she said and what I said afterwords, but this is what she said:
"Well, me and your dad figured that if we didn't parent you enough, society will do the rest."
And I said, "So that's an excuse for you to lack in parenting?" And she said nothing.
Well, what do you think? I don't know what to think.
Parents are definitely not perfect, yes, but society is downright messed up. Just because the majority of people in your area believe something doesn't make it right, just because the majority of people believe anything makes it right (the majority of people are usually wrong . . . the majority of the time, that is). For instance what if you were brought up in an Islamic extremist society? Does that mean you should be taught that suicide bombing and such is fine?
I'd trust your parents and try to find out what you believe because trust me, society doesn't believe or do anything that's worth a nut.
Well, of course your name drew me to your page, being that it's the same as mine and all. And then your bio .... explained things. Funny, my mother has an account here just so she can read my writing, somewhat like you. Of course, it would be my mother of all people.... I would hope for the love of my life or something. But nooooooooo........ lol.
Anyhoo, so then I noticed your post and thought, "hmm, i thought she didn't write".
And now here I am. So since I'm here, here are my thoughts to your question:
I think if society guides you... you will be confused for the remainder of this life. But then, who's to say that all parents know the answers. So, my personal thought is .... there is no right and wrong answer to this, only opinions..... values, morals, priorities....
all which can be sought from above.
Okay, well nice to meet you Dani. Hope all works out perfectly for you :)
