The Good King

The Good King

A Poem by Kati
"

A true story of goodness prevailing in darkness.

"
Come and listen to me now,
and to you I will tell:
a story of the Greatest Love.

It begins with a King,
who rules everything.
He is full of kindness and truth.

But His people turned away,
the good king, they would not obey.
They followed the pathways of death.

How dire was their plight!
But they said "everything's fine"
Deep down, they had a troubled soul.

And some began to see,
their need to be freed
from the guilt of their sins against the King.

They said: "what could we bring?"
"There's just no offering!
We can't buy the pardon of the Holy One!"

But the Good King had a plan,
to redeem these fallen men,
cleanse and forgive them, welcome them home.

He would send His own Son,
a perfect, innocent One,
to die in the place of all who lived.

So a pardon was wrought,
for all those who sought,
and repented before the King.

The King gave perfect Love
and compassion undeserved.
And the Son, who rose again forever riegns!
