Leave it be!A Poem by Daniel GardnerAnother poem that just popped in my mind.
"Leave it be!"
I screamed to her But she knocks over her favorite tea Another round with me Seems to be the only thing she wants to drink "I'm sorry" I say But she only moans and sways "I won't do it again" I yell Trying to drown out her elaborate tales "I just saw her at Taco Bell" I plead "Another Tale" she screams I finally grow quite Listening to her insight a riot Lost in my own thoughts now All I can think is wow I approach her silently Cautiously as she throws a towel Praying she won't launch our cat I touch her shoulders gently Making sure I don't get smacked Her fury turns to rage As I embrace her with a gaze "I love you" I whisper But all I feel is the tase I collapse to the floor Has she screams do you want more Kicks me across the floor Stopping to open the door Then kicks me some more The neighbors are shocked As she tosses out my socks I hear her say one last thing "Leave it be" She screams at me © 2010 Daniel GardnerAuthor's Note
