Street GoddessA Poem by Daniel GardnerThis I wrote for my fiancee. We meet under strange circumstances that society deems wrong but I feel that some of the greatest things in life come from the unexpected. What an odd place to find my muse Her face reeked of despair You could even see it in the messiness of her hair Handcuffed and prison bond Her hatred evident in her frown A crook to the world Another thief in the universe A scourge upon the planet Or so the media would have you believe I could not help but see the sadness in her eyes Even with a stare that was hardened from a life of crime I became curious I became intrigued I ignored what the wold would have me believe I searched for the truth I wrote her a letter not knowing what she would do I waited and waited Never losing patients I received her letter A sweet desire to get to know me I froze Not knowing what I may have exposed I wrote her back thinking this was all fake She called the very next week My heart panicked I did not answer But she continued to pursue I finally took the chance Secretly hoping for romance We talked and her voice was so sweet I wondered how could this be She truly was a goddess A mean street deity I became addicted to her smile Her longing to break free Her hope for a brand new life That she wished to have with me Her story was tragic A victim of societies venomous teeth I had to have her So I asked her to marry me To my delight she finally said yes June 23rd 2017 I will finally have My little Latino Heat
