You Told Me

You Told Me

A Poem by Tasha
"

A comparison unlike no other.

"
You told me
You were unlike the rest,
It seemed like you were
A new flavor  of candy
From the outside covering
All shiny and perfect,
But then I tasted you...
And once I tasted you
You turned out to be
The knock-off version
A complete opposite
Of the original
And who I thought you were
You're mean
Heartbreaking,
And someone I don't
Want to be around
But there's something
In this candy
That keeps bringing me back...
Is it your smile?
Your laugh?
Your charm?
You're sweet when you want to be
And sour the next,
You told me you were different
But it looks like I'm back
Where I started...
Looking for that one special
Piece of candy...

perhaps it's a toxic additive added to the candy that triggers the addiction...sugar can be rush but we also crash - hence the artificial sweetners - good comparison to reflect on. do we want pure sugar, the artificial sweetners or honey that we can digest and that is truly natural.
