Our Final GoodbyeA Poem by TashaLeaving the one I learned to love.
For a couple of weeks
I've been ignoring you Because I did not want to cry, But then I look into your Big black eyes And I do what I have to do I tell you the harsh truth, That we're moving And you can't come along Because the space is too small, I look at you and think Life can't go on, I won't be the same Without you, One night in my sleep I came up with a Brilliant idea, To bring you along anyway You could live outside And if anybody asked We'd say you were a stray Today was the day, The time had come To bring you along with us But you fought And wrestled Even jumped out the window, You scratched me And even tried to bite me, I'd lost the battle I had to let you go I grabbed you and held You as tears fell down my cheeks, I scratched your ears And rubbed your belly One last time I heard your meow And finally put you down As I got in the car To drive off A flashback of memories hit me, Like when you were first born, And me naming you, And also being terrified of you, I turned down the road Saying goodbye to a friend I'd grown to love so much, Was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do...
