The Rock

always being there when you need me.

I am the one that you can depend on

When times are tough,

You can come to me with your problems

And I'll give you the best advice I can

I am the rock

I'll always be there for you

No matter the situation

I'll always be your best friend

The rock,

The one you can stand on when you feel 

Like you're about to fall

I am the rock that can give you 

Hope and encouragement

When no one else is around

I am your rock,

And together we'll stand

On this rock we built together

You kept this poem universal; a for everyone poem. I like those. You could have been speaking of a lover, a friend, or a confidant (sp.) Not linked on to dictionary.com, right now. LOL! Anyone whom does not have, at least, one such individual in their lives, must be lost; even if, it is a child or a parent. We all need some support, now and again. An excellent write!

Lovely sentiment. We all need a rock! The only part that had me wondering was the last stanza where the rock goes from being you to something that you built together? Maybe that is just me not getting it (that certainly happens quite a bit!), but the repetition and change in imagery detracted a bit from the strength of the piece as a whole - which was in general very good.
