A Writer In Flames

A Writer In Flames

A Poem by Tasha
"

For the creative poetry group. words: flame, imprint, quiver, arrow, pursue, contrive, subjugate, ambrosial, and indulgent.

"
Trying to pursue a career in writing is tough,
There is always someone trying to take your spot,
To steal your thunder,
To put out your flame,
And the thought of losing the spotlight
Makes me quiver,
Quiver at the thought of another writer
Being better than me,
An arrow used to pin point the type of writing
I'm good at, or use to be good at,
To contrive my old writes into one
To come up with one final piece to be shipped off
I sign my name leaving one final imprint,
The theme.. indulgent parents
Something I truly know nothing about
But I force my pen to become subjugate,
I am the writer,
I control it all!
A few weeks later, a letter comes in the mail
It says....
"Congratulation your piece has been chosen for a mural."
Finally ambrosial,
My work's finally out there
For other people to see for years to come,
I guess I won't be a writer that crashes and burns

This was a harder challenge than I thought. It took me two days to come up with this.

i feel like you came up with an idea and stuck with it. which, is an admirable thing to do, but feels like you were also stuck in it, as if it weren't working and you tried to force it to. there's a stiffness. do you know what i mean?

regardless of this, i found it an excellent piece.

Haha, it's the initial goal to get your writing recognised and then to keep getting recognised. Can't wait until I get my break!

We have chosen to walk a tough road. Writing, may be the most punishing of professions. Still, can you imagine NOT doing it? There are always the nay say types. Always those who would love to watch us fall. It's really not their fault though. They just can't understand.

Other writers are often the most amazing folks to be around. Sure, there's the occasional ego posturing etc. But for the most part, we get one another when others do not.

I am EXTREMELY happy that your work is recognized! It's an incredible feeling, huh?
