What Happened To Us?

What Happened To Us?

A Poem by Tasha
"

A couple finally getting divorced after years of growing apart.

"
We were once so strong
We laughed,
We talked,
Everything was all right

Then one day we hit a wall
We yelled,
We screamed,
Things weren't like they use to be
What happened to us?

I've changed,
You've changed,
We've both changed
And we've both evolved from the
People we were 20 years ago,
We only stayed because of the kids

But I'm tired of you,
And you're tired of me too
But its finally  time to end what we started

Why?
Why must we go on living a lie?
All we're doing is tearing our family apart,
What happened to us?

Why must we continue something that ended
So long ago?
It's over,
We're through
Give me that pen
So I can finally be free from this burden

Almost reminds me of how my own parents divorced. Only, it was much more violent. But anywho. . . .very moving piece for people who are together, and knew they do not want to be together. Well written, tho I'm not so sure on the flow. Maybe it's just I don't read this style much. . but still good (:

Evolution, two people moving forward but not always in the same direction. I like the fact that they acknowledge their growth apart and moved on.

There are times in life when this happens. It takes work to get through it but many times the damage has already been done and can not be reversed. I am old school when it comes to marriage. I believe most things can be worked out and that it is the hardest job you will ever have. I want a marriage like my grandparents had. Married 50 years when my grandma passed away. They got through many hard times lived through WWII and many other things that came their way. It isn't always that simple or easy and sometimes parting is the best solution. This captures that feeling of not moving forward or backward. Standing still in a place that cause pain and chaos. You have described the feelings in detail.

A very moving piece. It is hard to let go of someone that you have had for a long while. Mistakes are made and they can be forgiven, however, there comes a time when you just cannot forgive them. Coming to a conclusion is very hard. More over if kids are in the middle. but if there is no chance of fixing things then it's better for the kids' parents to separate. Sooner or later they will understand the "why". A great write!

That was... interesting. I agree with Bed Head on the flow. It's rather heartfelt, and I definitely think it's a good piece. :) Well done!

Divorce is sad, I wish it didn't have to happen sometimes. But when you're no good for someone anymore.. well there's nothing you can do.
