Room 8611

Room 8611

A Poem by Tasha
"

my thoughts on my aunt having her first child.

"
Room 8611,
The room where a new life began
The room where old grudges subsided
Where old things said are left in the past,
A place where everyone should come together
But you push us away,
You say that we don't know what we're talking about
You say you know what your doing,
But taking care of a baby is hard work
And listening to your friends is not helping
Room 8611,
The room where a new life begins
The room where new grudges grow
Room 8611,
Its not you its the people in the room...

This is a very interesting insight into the coming together of a family... or at least that is what I get from it... So often happy family occasions such as Weddings, births, birthday gatherings... bring out the worst when in fact it should do the opposite!

This is an experience that to often ends in...well we won't go there, you captured the feelings of some and the hopes of others in this piece beautiful. I really like how you chose a room for your point of focus...adds a character that is often left out. The room used for many, but this one particular event is the center... :)

well written! can feel the family's frustration. the rejection of offered love and care obviously felt in a loving moment. such a sad moment. I like how you use the Room as a grounding point for the experience, as though it is a silent observer.

The baby does envoke more emotions than just happiness for people. Each new life will ease old grudges, but people are human in the fact new grudges will always be made. Even with baby............. Well written.

This was very, very interesting poem. I thought this poem would be solely about bringing new life in the world. But you also let us know that problems can arise as well. Tensions increase and relationships can falter. Sometimes you feel people are becoming too pushy and intrusive. I have seen this happen whether it be a baby being born or a major surgery. Emotions are high and everyone wants to help. This poem was so short, but it says so much. This was one of your best, complex poems that I've read. Great Job!

I guess it's always about people who crowd our lives with their expectations that weighs us down.
I love the poem.
