My Teddy Bear

For Bedtime stories describing your teddy bear.

A bear so special, so sweet,

A bear my grandmother gave to me

She gave it to me when I was born

Because without my dad my heart was torn

I always held my teddy bear tight

It gave me assurance that everything would be alright,

My teddy bear so sweet and nice

I never had to think twice,

That teddy bear was used for the best

Now it has been put to rest

With my grandmother,

So goodbye my wonderful people

In my heart you both remain equal

The bear my grandmother gave me was pink and it is now in her casket.

This is an amazing rhyming poem. Most of them I see are too formulaic, or just really block the meaning being conveyed. I like how this poem touches such a important part of you, and rhymes at the same time like it's second nature. Kudos!

Very touching and very well written. I have only 1 grandmother now, my mom's mother. My dad's mom died May 2, 2006. I miss her and wished I'd give her a final hug but never got the chance. I love this poem. Keep writing! :)
