Be Free

Be Free

A Poem by Tasha
"

P.O.V. of a young pregnant woman all alone.

"
Everyday a bird sits on my windowsill,
I watch him and wish to be him,
I wish I could be free
And live my life the way I want to
But I'm stuck taking care of a baby
All alone,
The father is free and nowhere to be found,
Out living his life
The way he wants to
While I sit at the window
And watch life pass me by,
I always thought
It could never happen to me
I just ended up being another statistic,

I'm all alone wishing I could
Be free again,
But I know I can't because

I'm the mother of this baby
And its my responsibility,
I just dream of being free again
But I know it cannot happen
No matter how much I want it to

So I watch the bird fly away
And watch life as I know it
Tag along with him...

Touching, and saddening at the same time. The tale you tell is tragic and an all too common one, but the way this is written gives it a very bittersweet feel. The character dreaming that she was free, but only able to live vicariously through a bird is one of the most poetic thisgs that i have ever read. Absolutily brilliant.

That's really sad. It's so unfair that the fathers of these babies are so often nowhere near once they find out there is a baby. So sad:(

to have a little life depend on you doesn't have to be sad...yes...life as you know it may be different...but the love from that little one will bless you more than anything else you could have dreamed of...one day at a time...

A sad poem. Motherhood is great responsibility. It had rewards too. I like how you used the example of the bird. Sometime we give up freedom for something worth more. A outstanding poem.

This is such a strong write so many young mothers resent their babies and it causes a lifetime of resentment.
