The Library

The Library

A Poem by Tasha
"

Why can't everyone be accepted?

"
He walks down the hall in shame,
with his head held down
cursing himself
for living in such a small town
wishing for the name calling
and harassment to cease
because its killing him inside
He reaches the library
and eats his lunch in silence
while becoming lost in a book..
his only escape;
The bell rings and its time
to go back to class:
back to the name calling,
back to the taunting,
back to the hell...
during school hours
The class project involves partners,
the entire class shuns him out
just because of his mom's preference,
he runs to the library and bawls his eyes out..
Finally the day is over
and he walks to his car to find
its been trashed,
he goes back into the library
and pulls out a piece of paper
and his favorite book
and he begins writing..
writing this letter and wishing
he could just be normal..
He puts the book
back in its place when a librarian
says to him
"I know how you feel."
she pulls the letter out of the
book and rip it apart
he finally felt accepted
when the whole world
turned their back on him

Yeah, it does suck when you feel that you're the only bookworm around. It's annoying when you can't belong with any group is that all you have are books. In a sense, those book nerds can be annoying to be around because all his/her world is just books.

When the 80 year old librarian is your only company, it's like... uh... there's a personal problem here. Sometimes, it takes some courage. Anyway, I know the feeling of being shoved aside for sometime in my childhood.

Anyway, great write. :)

I can totally relate to this. An innocent spirit oppressed by the masses and longing to find a sanctuary or a moment of piece or even just someone to make them feel accepted. You did an outstanding job of portraying this throughout.

It only takes one persons acceptance to lift a weary heart. One person to see and acknowledge their pain.

I know what it is to hide yourself away in your only friends....books. You never have to worry about acceptance with them. Well done.

Wow, you really portrayed the feelings of the main character. The hurt in this is so poignant and tangible.
