I sit by the window and wait for you, but you never show up. I gave you a call to see if you're okay, but the operator says your numbers changed, none of them are now the same. What am I suppose to do daddy? You promised you'd come, but you won't even show, to me you're just a coward and a deadbeat dad. You! You manipulated me into thinking you changed, but we all know you haven't. You had my mind spinning images of us actually becoming a family, but those dreams were squashed. You made me think things would get better, but you only made things worse, now I'm left with what I hoped would be, but I now know could never be... in my web of insanity.
Know a person for who they really are. Find a work around. When he shows up make room for happiness when he makes the time for you.
Usually letting a person know how, wrong they are or how bad they have been, keeps them in that frame of mind and it's hard to change when it's what they see all the time. Let him know how you feel about the past and about the hurt we you are in a good place, when you can say it with a smile.
We do not have control over the actions of others, but we have control over ourselves. Ta'Shandra control your own happiness :)
Always know parents are people too....some hopelessly flawed and hurtful...but know this for sure...he did at least one thing right...he gave us and the world you..a sensitive loving soul with the ability to write and touch people with your words... Thanks..
Well written. You have put so much emotion and feeling into so few words. It really grabs hold of the reader. It pulled at my tender heartstrings. Keep on penning.
It's guy like this that ruin the lives of children, not the two caring mothers or two caring fathers or the caring mother and father that raise their children into loving, productive, wonderful adults. And the sad thing is, the lack of a parent in a relationship makes it that much harder for children to be proper parents to their children. No wonder the village has to help these children grow up. Thank you for this, Ta'Shandra. You are one of the best teenage poets in the Cafe.

... really sad, i don't see the point in family leaving each other. if u have kids you should stick to them, care for them no matter what. It's really sad piece but i liked it...
This was a sad story. I believe that your father should change to see you. He probably moved away or something else. Growing up without a father is probably hard on you. This was a good story. Thanks for sharing.
Sad truth for many. I never understand how a parent can do something like that, once you have children you're obligated to be there for them no matter what. only in a perfect world, i guess. Great write!
