If I Lost My Pen

If I lost my pen,
it would be like
losing my soul
to a heartless monster

If I lost my pen,
you'd see a totally
different side of me
that you'd never think
would be in me,

If I lost my pen,
there would be no way
to keep my composer,
no way to keep my insanity,

Without my pen,
I'm just another screaming fan
at a concert,
lost behind the crowd,
not in the front like I want to be

Just a tiny detail that you can barely see

I think all writers can relate to this poem :) The whole "If I lost my pen" kind of hit me as "If writing suddenly never existed" or "If I was unable to write forever" which enhances the deeper meaning. Every line in this poem scared the crap out of me (In a good way); I imagined never being able to write again, and I realized how soon I would lose myself and fall apart. It really made me think about myself and what writing means to me. Beautiful and amazing job :)

The second stanza tells the tale, our pens keep us . . . bareable to society, we go mad if we are without. I can't think about losing my pen, it's too absurd.

I love this! It has such a deeper meaning than what it seems. If i lost my pen or not being able to write... I would probably break apart. Writing for me is important. I free my emotions and my thoughts through writing.. so i would fall into my depression and probably just lose it. XD Thanks for writing this! WAS nice to read. ^o^

Writing is the only thing that keeps me sane... So my guess is I'd lose my mind and jump out the window. o_O But I love this, wow!! Agreed with CoconutSprinkles... Every line scared the crap out of me, but in a good way. ;) Haha! My poetry is the air I breathe. You really hit home with this one, for a lot of us. Fantastic! Keep it up! :)

One quick thing, I think you mean "composure" as opposed to "composer". However, since you "compose" your poems with a pen, perhaps you mean the former after all? Awesome!

This is a really good poem. It has a lot of deep meaning. I think a lot of poets and authors feel the same wayl if they couldn't write they wouldn't know what to do any more. I don't know what I would do without being able to write. If the ability to write didn't exist anymore, like some people said, I don't think many people would be able to keep it together.
