Sleep Darling

Sleep Darling

A Poem by Tasha

"
Sleep darling,
so you won't have to live
in a world of sin,

Sleep darling,
so you won't have to suffer
from being abused
or being a prostitute,

Sleep darling,
so you won't have to wake up
next to a stranger...

Sleep darling...
until I can find your father,
because I don't want you
to live like I have to live
just to survive...

Sleep darling,
so you won't have to feel the drugs
and the alcohol

Sleep darling,
until its your time to wake up,
I long to find a better life for us
sweet baby... so until then...
sleep my precious little angel

Author's Note

 Tasha
My friends mom works with abused women and children and I went with her to work yesterday and we interviewed a pregnant and former prostitute and drug addict and how she wants to get her life together for her unborn child. It was really sad, but this is what I came up with.

Again, another true-to-life portrait. I volunteer at a battered womens shelter every couple of weeks, and to say its a miserable place is being kind. The kids are the most scarred of all. That poem's a dream that every mother wants for their child ... those that are trying, that is. Well done.

Love this , it is sad but a shame it is a reality for many, I have been homeless, when younger, my mother was an alcoholic, I have seen with my own eyes such cases, much worse than mine, I have volunteered many times now in my life...since growing up and moving on...and have fed the homeless, I say it is to give back what God has blessed me with.
I am glad there are people out there that care, this piece is heartfelt and tugs at my heart in a special way.

Great write, with lots of truth to it. Hopefully this person goes on the right track and for good to take care of this child.
