On The Outside Looking In

On The Outside Looking In

A Poem by Tasha
"

For the World Of 500 Group.

"
Everything seems different to the outside world
not knowing what people go through,
not having to hear the awful words
people call me

Looking through the window and all you see is
chaos
and people going crazy

You put me in a box,
and label me as one of them,
just because of the color of my skin...

Not everyone's the same!

But what if the tables were turned,
and you were the one inside,
while we were outside
judging you... before we even knew you

Calling you horrible names
just like you have done to us...

Why can't we look in a mirror
and see what our ancestors went through
and try not to be that reflection
in the mirror
because no one wants to live that way anymore

We can't let our hatred for each other
hinder us from reaching our dreams...

Why cant we put past thoughts and feelings
inside
while we sit outside and learn more about each other
before we classify them as a certain group

I'm sorry that people judge you. I've always been 100% against racism and discrimination due to religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or skin color, so I hope people read this poem and realize...
It was a very good poem, very powerful and can make impact.

Your words are true in this poem. Must be careful how you look at someone. Hard to know who the person is and where they been. Could give you a surprise and open your eyes. World ain't perfect yet. Must teach children never allow anyone to look down at you. Thank you for the strong poem with a powerful message.

This is well done and shows personal feeling about racism and how it has affected you as a person. You have done well using this topic and it lets people see more of you and your feelings.

i once heard it said.. sticks and stones will break my bones but names shall never harm me.. more people need to realize that names can be harmful.we shouldnt let anyone tell us who we are we need to find out for ourselves.

This is beautiful (: I wish the world could be that way...together. But instead were killing eachother, just cause of race. My dad's really prejiduce(sp?) so I grew up like that, but I'm not at all. Racism actually disgusts me, so thats proof that the whole world isn't bad, and that it can hopefully change somebday. I'm sorry that you have had to take those comments and jokes though ):

People around the world are too quick to judge others for so many different reasons that its beyond sad to me. Everyone right now are at each others throats and those in power around the world are pushing it for their own agenda It hurts the world, it hurts people and it hurts the individual. And your very well written poem expresses how it hurts the individual very well. Its all so very very sad and in the end, dangerous for all.

Wow, great poem! I personally try not to judge people before I meet them, but sometimes its hard to do so. Think of how much better the world would be if we thought to put ourselves in peoples shoes! Great poem.

Beautiful and thought-provoking. Completely fits the idea of racial discrimination and the whole injustice of it. Very well penned. :)
