On The Outside Looking In

On The Outside Looking In

A Poem by Tasha
"

For the World Of 500 Group.

"
Everything seems different to the outside world
not knowing what people go through,
not having to hear the awful words
people call me

Looking through the window and all you see is
chaos
and people going crazy

You put me in a box,
and label me as one of them,
just because of the color of my skin...

Not everyone's the same!

But what if the tables were turned,
and you were the one inside,
while we were outside
judging you... before we even knew you

Calling you horrible names
just like you have done to us...

Why can't we look in a mirror
and see what our ancestors went through
and try not to be that reflection
in the mirror
because no one wants to live that way anymore

We can't let our hatred for each other
hinder us from reaching our dreams...

Why cant we put past thoughts and feelings
inside
while we sit outside and learn more about each other
before we classify them as a certain group

I'm sorry that people judge you. I've always been 100% against racism and discrimination due to religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or skin color, so I hope people read this poem and realize...
It was a very good poem, very powerful and can make impact.

Reading this I thought of the Michael Jackson song Man In The Mirror. This is powerful and deep and expressed so well.

Brilliant work , i work in a school and they work hard to make learning inclusive to everyone and help the children accept people who are different in many ways, my daughter is mixed race and i have had to bring her up strong so that she knows she is as important as every other person and not to be put down by other peoples words.. its sad they have to experience it so young .... but you can use it as a tool to build strentgh if your open to what your child has to say... I do know children who have had racist abuse from the families in which they grow up , from both sides , this is the sickist as surely if their own kin dont accept them who will ....

People around the world are really different. Different attitude, manner, behavior. Your words are truly suspect in the real life. We must be careful to look on someone. It's significant to let our child to know not to let people look down on them. People are too quick to judge others for so many reasons though. An powerful and strong piece. Truly love it so much.

This is so true! People are too quick to judge and they are usually wrong about a person. You can really never judge someone by the way they look. It goes back to the basic concept that you can't really judge a book by its cover.
