Going Against Words

Going Against Words

A Poem by Tasha

All your life you let people dictate
your thoughts,
feelings,
and beliefs,
but not this time...
now you're  going against the words of the jealous
ignoring the words from the haters,
because listening to them
instead of believing in yourself
will get you no-where
but in last place
in the race of your life,
so go against these words
even if it means losing friends
those really aren't your friends
to begin with
even if it means losing sleep
to achieve your dream...
go for it,
because it will pay off in the long run
sometimes going against words that people say
helps you realize who you really are

I like this poem! You're right, there are times where you just have to ignore the hurtful words of the people who just want to do you harm. It was interesting that you wrote this poem in second person. Because of this you have to be aware of the difference between 'your' and 'you're'. I caught one of them here 'now your going against the words of the jealous'. 'Your' should be 'you're'. A simple mistake and it doesn't take away from the over-all feeling of the piece. Thank you for writing!

This poem touched my very being. I have a problem of letting everything everyone says get to me until i finally break. I have seen many cases where people have clamed to want to help but have only ended up hurting me in the end. That is when I found out the only person I could rely on the help and save me was myself. Excellent poem.

Wow!
I really, honestly do like this piece, though I haven't really been a fan of your pieces in the past.
It's brutually honest, and shows you just how spineless we as human beings have the tendencies to be. Complete strangers can make us fall into a dark pit of depression, or make us feel proud. Do we really rely on other that much?
But your piece tells us what we need to hear "Stop giving a f**k, because it won't matter." We're living life for US. Not for each other.

Better to be content and walk on your desire path. Then to follow blinded other people and never knowing peace or happiness. A lot of strong wisdom in your words. I agree with your words. A outstanding poem. Thank you.
