How Should You Feel?

Regret! How should I take his regret? In a good way or a bad way? I wrote this because I need help and I don't know how to talk this to so I wrote it online to seek help.

When someone tells you a story about this girl that he really likes and spent a lot of time with her but as friends. So close friends they even went to prom together and he even called her smart, beautiful and amazing. When she left and ran away he was depressed for a whole summer. And that this guy knew that she liked him because out of everyone that she could spent time with she was with him and he was with her. So my question is what do you do when that guy tells you about how much he regretted not kissing her or making the first move because he was so shy to do it himself? Do you smile and say that everything happened for a reason? Do you wonder if he still likes her? How do you feel when his words hurt you since they shouldn't because you know that he is with you and not her. Happy? Don’t even care? Think that you are over reacting? How should you feel?
