Secrets of Winter

Secrets of Winter

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

Will somebody please

Reach out and touch me?

Will somebody please

Tell me they love me?

Because I'm getting cold,

And I can't take it.

This life is getting old,

And I don't want to face it.

Please remember me

When I'm gone.

Keep my memory

Safe and warm.

I'm moving on again,

But I'm not so certain

If this is a beginning

Or a bitter end.

This isn't suicide,

I'm just afraid.

My spirits have all died,

My hope decayed.

Give me another chance

To love again.

I just want another chance

To find a friend.

Please say you'll follow me

Into the dark,

And in return I will

Trade my heart.

It's a little tattered but

It hope it will do.

I doubt this matters but

It beats only for you.

I hate to say the words

That I truly mean.

It could get so much worse,

But only for me.

All I want is to tell you

That I want to let go.

But I'm afraid of what you'll do,

So you can never know.
