Telephone Wires

Telephone Wires

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

When the phone starts to ring,
Don't ever let it stop.
Don't let the silence take over,
Open your mind and talk.

Twirl the wire in your fingers,
As I'm speaking you to sleep.
Your voice brings light in darkness,
Chases me through my dreams.

Through the earth and the miles,
We are always far apart.
But through the telephone wires,
We are laying heart next to heart.

Through cold and lifeless string,
I can feel the steady beats
Your heart makes as you're speaking,
Speaking softly to me.

Tangled up, forever and always
In the wire of telephones.
Wherever your heart happens to lie,
Is the place I can call home.

Wow this is really the best thing I've read all day. In the cell phone age this poem almost has a vintage feel to it. There's so much thoughtful imagery in each stanza of connection.

There's an issue where you got wordy and it messed up the meter in the third stanza. I think if you deleted the word "next" it would flow better. But honestly that's just a nit-pick. Everything else is perfection!

Fourth stanza is just stunningly wonderful, almost like a song.

Thank you for the fantastic read! This is surely one of my favorites. Keep up the great talented work!

To be completly honest, I didn't know what to expect. I'm glad I decided to check it out. In all honesty I was blown away. The description was mind-blowing, flow was amazing, and the overall description was the icing on the cake. Great write
