California Summer

California Summer

A Poem by Lydia Jamison

California in the summertime,
Always my favorite place to be.
Lakes and camps really aren't my thing,
I'd rather be at the beach.
Fun, nonstop, with all of my friends.
Over and over again, we sing the same songs.
Running from all of our troubles,
Never letting them catch up with us.
I love this California Summer.
A happy, perfect place, away from fears.

Swim in the salt water waves,
Unplug my headphones, and play
My summer music for all to hear.
Mixing lemonade and tea, sipping them on the sand.
Ending summer is always the worst part.
Really, I want it to last all year.

This was a good write. The words create stunning visual effects in my mind as I read this. I think I found the "secret". :)
